Volunteers walked the catwalk as they helped to raise money for the town’s Women’s Institute.

An estimated 130 people headed to the Empire Theatre, in Butler Road, to watch a fashion show put on by members of Halstead WI.

A total of 15 different models helped show off the best clothing from Scottish clothes company M&Co, which has a store in High Street. Among the models were four children and three men.

A raffle, which helped raise £180, was also held on the night, with winners collecting prizes which had been donated by businesses and organisations based in the town.

Sandra Dingle, Women’s Institute treasurer. said: “It was a very good night and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

“We have had lots of good feedback and praise from people so we are thinking about setting up another show in the winter.

“I want to thank the Empire Theatre for helping us.

“Special mention to Andy who was on the lights and Fiona Escott who did most of the organising for the event.”

The total raised on the night was £550 and all funds will now go towards the running of the Women’s Institute group.
