YOUNGSTERS visited care homes as part of a week-long drive to give something back to the place where they live.

Pupils from Stanway Pre-School went into Loganberry Lodge and Stanway Green Lodge care homes as part of their kindness in the community week.

The special project also saw the children go on a litter pick around the village, collect items for the food bank and plant flowers which were handed out to residents.

Deputy manager Zoe Crosby said the whole week had been a success.

She said: "Our visits to the care home went really well and we have had such a good week.

"The visit was actually quite emotional.

"Some of the residents were actually quite emotional and it was so nice to be able to give something back.

"Our pupils are only three and four years old and to start with they were a little shy but we introduced ourselves and after a while they were fine.

"We sang songs and tried to keep it very traditional so everyone could join in.

"It was really successful."
