SCHOOLCHILDREN have launched a garden SOS appeal to transform an overgrown patch of land into an outdoor learning space.

Two Village Primary in Mayes Lane, Ramsey, is calling on parents and residents to come forward and help clear and plant the area for all ages in the school to use.

Headteacher Natasha Bennett said: “As well as a large play area and field, we also own a piece of land at the end of the school field, which was previously known as The Garden of Curiosities.

“When I arrived as the new headteacher, I could see what potential the garden had, but could see that it would be a huge job to develop this area successfully.

“We would be very keen to hear from anyone in the community who would like to offer any help, whether it be volunteering to clear areas, advice on landscaping, making things for our outdoor spaces, donating plants or planting/weeding.

“Research shows that outdoor learning has a positive impact on pupil attainment and wellbeing and it is something that we are very keen to develop for our children at Two Village.

“In order to make the most of outdoor learning we need to develop our outdoor spaces, especially our land previously known as The Garden of Curiosities.

“We envisage this being a long term project that will evolve over a number of years but it is a journey that we want to begin as soon as possible.”

To help, people are urged to get in touch with the school on 01255 880268.
