Drivers have been told to expect delays throughout the summer as work on a housing development looks set to cause problems along the A131.

Bloor Homes has announced temporary traffic lights will be installed along Mount Hill from Monday as workman carry out major construction works as part of the Oak Road development.

A letter sent round to residents affected by the traffic lights states Bloor Homes is hopeful the work will last no more than 20 weeks.

Should the timescale be accurate, work would not be complete until September 17.

According to Essex County Council's website, the works will be in place between the Oak Road turning and north of the Ramsey Road junction.

The letter states: "The works are to construct new foul water drainage for the new development along the length of Mount Hill. There works will be commencing on Monday 30th April 2018 and hopefully completed within 20 weeks.

"Please be assured that disruption will be kept to a minimum and we thank you for your co-operation during this period."

Bloor Homes has been contacted for further comment.
