A HALSTEAD acting duo are preparing to say G’day to audiences when they take to the stage as part of an unusual production.

Lucy Foster and Alison Crawley both have major roles in the Sudbury Dramatic Society’s production of Ladies Down Under which is set to run at the Quay Theatre in the town.

It will be shown nightly from Tuesday May, 8 to Saturday, May 12 at 7.45pm.

The show is a sequel to the highly popular comedy drama Ladies’ Day performed by the society last year.

It sees Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda swap the posh dresses and fascinators of Royal Ascot for cork hats and t-shirts as they head on the trip of a lifetime using some of the winnings from the end of Ladies’ Day.

Laced with the compelling humour and characters that made Ladies’ Day so popular, this is a comedy drama you won’t want to miss.

Lucy who has been involved with the society for many years and has appeared in various key roles for the society.

Those roles include Maggie in Outside Edge, Ruth in the 2012 hit Calendar Girls and Beverly in the 1970s classic Abigail’s Party.

She trained as a celebrant to augment her career in social services and reprises the role of Pearl that she played in Ladies’ Day.

Lucy said: “It’s an unusual experience for many actors to find themselves playing the same character again.

“But it’s an interesting challenge particularly showing how Pearl may differ from the original play.”

Meanwhile Alison, who is a teacher by day, is new to the role of Shelley.

Shelley is the young, brash member of the intrepid female foursome who take the trip of a lifetime to Australia.

She said: “My first roles for the society doing panto and playing Shelley have been completely different.

“It’s interesting for me being the new one amongst the three other cast members who played those parts previously.”
