A woman is setting up a casino themed charity event in a bid to raise money for a man in desperate need of medical treatment.

Davina Davies is running a charity night at the Dorrington Hotel, Trinity Street, Halstead where visitors will help raise money by taking part in the casino.

Proceeds from the night will be going towards a campaign to raise funds which will allow Brookin Johnson to have an operation.

Mr Johnson, 31, who lives off Church Road, Gosfield, has suffered with fibromyalgia for more than 15 years and is paralysed from the waist down with the rest of his body in constant pain.

A campaign was launched back in 2016 and raised £80,000. The money was due to spent on stem cell treatment in America. Unfortunately Mr Johnson’s declining health meant travelling to America may prove impossible and he instead requires more expensive treatment in the UK.

Mrs Davies hopes that her casino event, along with others, will prove helpful as the Johnson family continues its bid to get him the treatment he needs.

“I am friends with Brookin’s dad and really wanted to help”, she said.

“The event will all be about raising money for the family who are working so hard to get Brookin treatment.” The event will be held on Saturday, March 3 from 8pm. Call 07548 978643 for details.
