Members of a motorcycle club have set up a raffle to raise money for a children’s hospice.

Dean Cutting, 51, and colleagues in the Bikes And Friday Night Talking S**** motorbike club hope to raise hundreds of pounds for Little Havens Hospice.

The group set up a raffle with the Dog Inn, in Halstead, where entries can win a number of prizes such as bottles of wine, retail vouchers and a giant four foot teddy bear.

Mr Cutting, from Gosfield, said the group was inspired to begin the fundraiser after winning the giant teddy bear in a competition last year.

He said: “We are all men aged over 50 so we don’t really have much need for a big fluffy bear.

“We wanted to give it to a hospital but you aren’t allowed to do that so we thought we would give it away in a raffle and raise money in the process.

“I went round knocking doors and loads of businesses have signed up.

“Supermarkets are donating items, hairdressers and salons have got in involved.

It’s been great to see the community getting involved.”

All proceeds raised from the raffle will go to Little Havens Hospice which offers support and care for children suffering with terminal illnesses.

Mr Cutting added: “I went to the hospice when we were getting organised and it was a great place.

“It’s so sad to see the children there so the money will be going towards a good cause.”

The raffle will be drawn on Wednesday, February 14 at The Dog Inn, off Hedingham Road. Tickets are available at the pub.
