A CHAMBER of commerce held another successful event last week.

The Burnham Chamber of Commerce held an apprentice recruitment event on Wednesday at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club.

Adele Bovingdon, chairwoman of the chamber, opened the event with the presentation of a new chairman’s award to a member of the chamber that it felt had gone that extra mile in their support and promotion of the chamber over the past year.

Jennifer Williams from the Burnham Review received the trophy and a highly commended certificate went to Su Batt from Forever Living Products.

A special thanks was also made to the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, Annie Reid, the commodore, and its staff for enabling the chamber to host the majority of the events.

This was the first event of the New Year and focused on apprenticeships. It included an exhibition of training providers offering a variety of apprenticeships from Business Administration, ICT through to Engineering and Leadership and Management.

Adele Bovingdon said: “It was another very successful event with a number of businesses keen to discuss their apprenticeship needs with providers as well, as always, a number of new faces, who when they could see how welcoming, extremely informative, and supportive of promoting local business the chamber is, are now planning to join.

“We would encourage other businesses to become members so that they can start enjoying the benefits. It was also great to acknowledge and celebrate for the first time the positive contributions that individual members make to the new chamber.”

The next event will be in March 2018.
