A CREATIVE writing group has published a book of work in aid of charity.

Pen-Friends is a club which meets on a monthly basis at the Little Book Café in Hedingham Road, Halstead.

Members of the group submit a piece of work everything month ranging from prose to poetry.

Each piece is critiqued by the group who then offer tips to one another on how they could improve.

Having fine tuned their writing skills, the group opted to raise money for a charity by putting a book together of their which will be chosen by the Little Book Café.

Peter Caulfied, Pen Friends coordinator said: "It was agreed to produce a book of the past year’s challenges and use it to raise money for charities supported by The Little Book Café.

"The work is notable because our members come from across the spectrum of literary experience, genre and ability.

"They range from those who have been published to complete beginners. It’s a wide-ranging learning experience for all our members and I thought it would be rewarding for them to see their words in print."

The book, which has been named after the group, is available to buy from Blurb.co.uk for £10.

Copies will also be sold at the Little Book Café in the future, while Halstead Library will also offer copies to borrow.
