A public meeting has been arranged to try and find a site for a suitable village playground.

Castle Hedingham Parish Council has been trying to secure a permanent site in order to install play equipment to serve the children of the village and a community space for everyone to enjoy.

The current playground at Sudbury Hill, which needs upgrading, could be removed and turned into housing.

Attempts to secure a playground on a linked piece of land owned by Braintree Council have been proven unsuccessful.

There are fears a proposed site on part of an old allotment field near Memorial Hall may not be suitable and the possible lease may not be long enough.

Representatives from the parish council, district council, Hedingham Castle and villagers are set to attend to try and find a solution.

The parish council does not own a suitable site itself and the concern is children could be left with outdated equipment or even none at all. The meeting will take place at 7.45pm on Wednesday, January 24 inside Memorial Hall, off Church Lane.
