A woman who set out on a Sunday afternoon stroll was horrified to come across this pile of rubbish which had been dumped by flytippers.

Julie Haythorn was walking to Burtons Green when she came across a mix of dirty nappies, children’s toys and gas canisters.

She posted several photos of the rubbish on Twitter and wrote: “What a beautiful walk up to Burtons Green this afternoon admiring the new hedgelaying along the way until we get to this.

“Mobile home debris, caravan toilet and gas canisters, dirty nappies and children’s toys and much more. What utter scumbags.

Ms Haythorn reported her discovery to the council who have since removed the pile of rubbish.

Councillor Wendy Schmitt, Cabinet Member for Environment and Place, said: “Our street scene team have removed this fly-tip and we are investigating to see if we can identify who committed this offence.

“Flytipping is unacceptable – it blights our district and costs taxpayers thousands of pounds to clear up.

“We are working hard to tackle the issue and where we have evidence we will investigate and take legal action, so I’d urge residents to report details of any fly tipping to us so we can continue to pursue those who have no respect for the Braintree District."
