Braintree's MP has been appointed to the role of Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party by Prime Minister Theresa May.
James Cleverly was called to Downing Street this afternoon for talks with the Prime Minister, who is undergoing a major shake up of her top team.=
It has now been confirmed that Mr Cleverly will take on the role of Deputy Chairman of his party, understudy to Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis.

The Chairman's role is to run the administration of the party, as well as manage the Conservative Campaign Headquarters.
Mr Cleverly may be given a portfolio of specific aspects of the party to run the rule over, for example local government, women or young people.
