Hundreds of original pieces of art are set to go on sale to help raise money for a charity which supports young adults with learning difficulties.

Gosfield based artist Georgie Roy, will be selling a massive collection of varied pieces she has created over the years for one of her many art exhibitions, with a percentage of the takings being given to Braintree District Mencap.

Prices range from just £1 to a maximum of £25, with art supplies, bric-a-brac and collectables also being part of the sale.

Georgie said: “Over the years I’ve had a great many solo exhibitions and I always did brand new work for each.

“Anything unsold came home, was never seen again and I started on new works for the next exhibition.

“Now I have more than 600 framed pictures and as many just in mounts and I haven’t space to work in my studio.

“Work is also in my bedroom, spare bedroom and drawing room and I’m getting oppressed by it all and desperate to have more space and less stress.”

The sale will take place at Goosefield Gallery, in Halstead Road, every Saturday and Sunday throughout January and February between 10am and 6pm.

Georgie is vice president of Braintree District Mencap which provides support to people with learning disabilities and their families across the area. Visit braintreemencap.org.uk
