Nearly 200 pensioners attended two special Christmas parties at Queen's Hall.

Organised by Halstead Town Council, Outing's Couriers and a team of volunteers, this year's popular annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Party was bigger and better than ever.

The evening was a mix of food, conversation and dancing and raffle prizes were donated by local companies.

Halstead Town Councillor Jackie Pell helped out at the event.

She said: "We all had a wonderful time. It was a joint effort between us and it doesn't happen without everyone working together.

"We had 104 pensioners on Thursday and 80 on the Friday.

"It was hard work but very worthwhile. It is a real community event."

Next year's programme of events includes five trips, including Brighton, Cromer and Windsor.

Tickets will be available from February.
