Halstead's community came together for one of the most popular events in the town’s calendar.

Hundreds of revellers lined the streets of the town on Saturday for the Christmas fayre and lights switch-on.

Organised by Halstead Chamber and Halstead Town Council, this year’s combined event was bigger and better than ever before.

There were stalls by community groups, performances by musicians and good food and drink as part of the festivities.

A spokesman for Halstead Town Council said: “We thought it went fantastically well. Most of the people told us as much.

“The lights in the park were new this year and we think they were very effective. It was much better than last year and everything ran very smoothly.

“It has been a real team effort and everyone worked very hard to make sure it was a success.”
