THE people of Halstead paid their respects to soldiers who have lost their lives during a special remembrance service.

Hundreds of people joined in a procession through the town and observed a two minutes silence in the public gardens to show their respects on remembrance Sunday.

Keith Brownlie, president of Halstead Rotary Club and a retired major from the Corps of Royal Engineers, was one of several people who laid wreaths at the town’s memorial.

He said: “It was a great privilege to be at the remembrance parade and to lay a wreath in remembrance of all of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

“Our armed forces do an amazing job and we must always remember their service and value it."
