A salon is celebrating its second birthday after overcoming a burglary and a flood since it opened.

Owner Rory O’Shea, from Halstead, is proud to have overcome these challenges and will be holding a week long celebration.

He said: “In the last two years we have experienced rapid growth and overcome many obstacles, such as a burglary six months into trading, a flood at the premises resulting in a full refurbishment of the salon.

“The salon is also part of Trevor Sorbie’s mynewhair offering wig services for those suffering from medical hair loss.

“Over the next month we will be holding celebrations, running promotions within the salon and giving away a year’s free hairdressing to one lucky client.”

Ruari’s Hair Salon, High Street, Earls Colne, was burgled six months into trading in March 2016 and flooded in June 2016.

The burglary saw £1,500 of stock stolen and the whole salon had to be refurbished after the flood.

Despite the setbacks the business is now beginning to grow and flourish and the owner is hoping his efforts will inspire others.

The salon was opened in 2015 by Mr O’Shea, who has been hairdressing for more than 16 years and started out as a Saturday boy aged 13.

Since completing an apprenticeship with Paul Adams Hair and Beauty, formally of Rosemary Lane, Halstead, Mr O’Shea has won awards with Schwarzkopf and other regional and national competitions.

The salon now provides wig services for those going through chemotherapy treatment or for those suffering any medical hair loss.

Mr O’Shea added: “We are continually looking at new trend services for clients as we believe coming to the salon is about you finding a hairdresser you trust.

“I would like to thank all our existing clients for their continued support over the last two years and would like to welcome new clients to the salon.”

The salon’s official birthday is on October 24 there will be a week of celebrations, including champagne and gifts for clients, alongside a main raffle for those who have had an appointment throughout the month.
