A man who kicked an officer in the chest and threatened a person with pliers has been arrested.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of a public order offence, criminal damage, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer after the incident in Thorne Road, Kelvedon.

Officers received a call at 12.10am today (October 20) after a resident heard noises in her garden.

One of the occupants challenged the man, who was then threatened with pliers.

Police armed with a Taser quickly attended and arrested the man, who became aggressive and kicked an officer in the chest.

The officer suffered no injuries and was able to carry on with their duties.

A 29-year-old man remains in police custody for questioning.
