KIND-HEARTED grandparents have generously handed 16 brand new laptops to a primary school.

St Peter’s C of E Primary School in Sible Hedingham received the donation earlier this week.

The school had been seeking to fundraise £10,000 for new laptops and a new laptop trolley.

But after learning about the school’s campaign in a newsletter, grandparents Martyn Tuthill and his wife Dawn decided to take matters into their own hands by buying 16 Dell laptops for the school.

They have three grandchildren at the school and their daughter is on the PTA.

Mr Tuthill used funds from his own company in Braintree, M & D Mechanical Services, to purchase the equipment.

He said: “Their computers the school had were very old and they were having to share.

“Schools should have the equipment they need to teach their students.”

Headteacher Julie Harper said: “The donation blew me away to be honest, we have lots of kind parents who help out but this was very unexpected.”
