A TRAILBLAZING hotel has signed up to a scheme offering free stays to outstanding charity volunteers.

Wivenhoe House, which is based near the University of Essex on the roaming Wivenhoe Park, has joined the Rooms to Reward scheme.

The scheme invites registered charities to put forward their hidden heroes who are then rewarded with a free short break as a thank you.

Unsold rooms will be offered on a bed and breakfast basis.

Wivenhoe House’s hotel general manager Oliver Brown said: “We think Rooms to Reward is a brilliant idea and we are delighted to support it. “As with any hotel there are always nights when some rooms are sitting empty and it would be lovely to think they could be used for a good cause.

“We are already asking Wivenhoe House staff and Edge Hotel School students to recommend charities for us to support throughout the year and hopefully some of these charities will put forward people for Rooms to Reward.”

The hotel is the centre in which students can study for a university degree while gaining practical skills from working in a four staff hotel.
