A BURNHAM group aiming to help residents with their mental health is the feature of a new video advertising the work of the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Create & Flourish, run by Triss Norman and Sharon Chan, is a community interest group based in Burnham.

They offer a number of workshops aimed at helping people get creative and remain active, while staying positive and maintaining good mental health.

The group are midway through their Digging and Delving: A Potted History of Burnham-0on-Crouch project, being held at the allotments in Arcadia Road.

The project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and has offered many different activities and workshops to residents over the last year, including a series of art, photography and printing sessions.

Angela Stearn, from the town, has been attending the workshops regularly.

She benefited from the sessions so much that she got in contact with the Heritage Lottery Fund to tell them of the great work Create & Flourish.

Last week, she was joined by a film crew to put together a video about her experiences for the fund’s website which included visits to the allotments and to the group’s base at Station House.

She said: “I owe a lot to Create & Flourish for coming into my life at just the right time, and helping me get my sparkle back after several very difficult years.”

The group’s preview of the art exhibition they have been working on, based on the allotments, will be held on Friday October 27 from 4pm to 8pm at Burnham-on-Crouch and District Museum.
