INDULGING in his love of Colchester, one man has captured it all in a five-minute YouTube video.

It all began with a Fitbit when Simon Crow started to obsess over racking up his 10,000 daily steps.

His fitness improved and so did his exploration of the town, which he decided to share with others online.

He said: "After a while I decided to break up these walks by taking my GoPro camera with me. Using my iPhone too, I started filming the town’s lovely landmark buildings, unique shops, street scenes, and footage of people enjoying our beautiful Castle Park, and some of the wildlife which live there.

"I grew up in Colchester and have lived here for more than three decades so I’m passionate about my home town.

"I’m always keen to promote the town whenever I can so it made sense to edit these clips into a short film for others to enjoy, whether they're locals searching for videos about the town, visitors reminiscing about an enjoyable visit here, or potential visitors thinking of coming for a stay."

More than 500 viewers have watched the video, edited with a cover of Bronski Beat’s Why and eighties hit Smalltown Boy.

He added: "I felt Smalltown Boy perfectly suited my video having grown up here.

"Editing videos is a new thing for me so it’s a quite a learning curve, however I’m very pleased with the results.
