AN EMERGENCY meeting was held in North Fambridge to debate plans for 75 homes in the village.
A reserved matters application was put forward by David Wilson Homes for a development on land to the west of Fambridge Road.
The applicants have permission for 75 homes, a village centre of around 1,000 square metres, space for commercial buildings, and open public space and village green equivalent in size to almost two rugby pitches.
Plans were passed on to Maldon District Council in August, and a decision on the reserved matters application is expected in November.
An emergency meeting was held by North Fambridge Parish Council to discuss the proposals which have proven hugely unpopular with residents.
Those concerns about the infrastructure in the village being able to cope with the extra 75 homes is a key reason so many residents are opposed to the new development. A decision is pending.
