STUDENTS from Halstead are looking forward to bright futures after picking up their GCSE results.

Pupils at Ramsey Academy, in Colne Road, Halstead, were celebrating another year of fantastic results again, building on the improvement made by the school in recent years.

An impressive 64 per cent of students achieved at least five A* to C grades when they opened their envelope.

The number of students that achieved the very highest grades also increased and results were particularly pleasing in the science subjects, PE and health and social care.

Under the new grading system, which sees courses graded from nine to one, with nine being the top, 60 per cent of students achieved between nine and four in both English and maths.

Headteacher Rob James said: “We are delighted that hard work of students has produced excellent results which allow them to progress to the next stage of their education or employment. On behalf of the students, I would like to thank the staff and parents for their support.

“The results show that as a school we provide an all-round education, with a range of opportunities for all students, whatever their ability and interest.”

Halstead Gazette:

At Hedingham School, an impressive quarter of all grades were either A or A*.

In total 70 per cent of students received five A* to C grades.

One of many outstanding achievements was 74 per cent of students achieving a four+ grade in maths, equivalent to the former C grade.

Headteacher John Panayi said: “Within a changing and uncertain examination landscape where grade boundaries are untested, it is very good to note that Hedingham School has maintained high expectations for our students which is reflected in their excellent results.”
