AFTER nursing and rehoming 40 animals over the last year, an “animal crazy” family are looking for support to continue doing what they do best.

Claws and Tails was launched in 2010 by Kristina Ince, and with the help of her son Arkham Scrace.

The pair take in poorly cared for animals, nursing them back to health and then packing them off to loving homes.

In just the last year, the family have taken in almost every animal you could think off, ranging from geckos, to farm pigs and household dogs.

Arkham, 14, said: “We’ve had our rescue here for about six years now, and over that time we’ve had pretty much every animal you can imagine.

“We’ve had pigs, dogs, guinea pigs, cats, even a load of different reptiles.

“Some are off the streets, and some are brought to us by their owners, we recently had a lurcher puppy brought to us because his owners couldn’t look after him anymore.”

But nursing animals is far from cheap for the Toppesfield-based business, with the family racking up a host of vet bills, particularly from one puppy they took in suffering from mange.

Arkham added: “We’ve probably taken in and helped back to health 40 animals over the last year, but most of the bills came from one puppy we took in over Christmas who had mange.

“He was in a really bad way, it is actually really sad.

“What we do is really nice and so rewarding, when they go to a new loving home it is amazing to see.

“But the bills do add up quite quickly, and if we could raise this money it would help us get even and go back to helping the animals who need help.”
