DELIGHTED teachers and students were celebrating a successful set of A-level results at Hedingham School.

Almost two-thirds achieved A* to C grades – at 65 per cent – with 96 per cent passing their A Levels.

Headteacher John Panayi was proud of the efforts and the achievements during a transitional year with exams and qualifications changing.

He said: “We are pleased with the performances of the students.

“This has been a difficult year for students with the introduction of new, untested qualifications.

“This level of uncertainty naturally adds more pressure for the staff and students to deal with.

“The school has worked collectively to manage this, which again, has been reflected in the results.

“I would like to thank the commitment and hard work demonstrated by all students, staff and parents.

“I wish all the students a successful future.” Striving for impressive results, and big UCAS points, 38 per cent of pupils achieved A* to B grades.

One in five also earned an A*, A or distinction, making it one of the most successful years for high achievers at the school.

A number of notable individual performances saw several students receive special mention and top grades across their subjects.

Denys Hellary was the top performer in the school, achieving one A* and four A grades and is looking forward to his future. Laura Smith went home smiling after opening her envelope to reveal three A grades. Another star performer was Harriet Vinter, who earned three A’s and one B.

For those students who achieved what they were hoping for, to move on with education, work or training, the day was a celebration with those just missing out still having plenty of options and bright futures.
