RESIDENTS living near Oak Road were given the opportunity to view plans for the second phase of the development.

Plans were on display on Monday at Halstead Town Council.

The plans have been developed by David Wilson Homes, seperately to phase one, which is being produced by Bloor Homes.

On display were plans for 100 homes, with 30 per cent affordable housing and allotments to be included in the site.

Wider benefits for the local community include financial contributions through a legal agreement to the Elizabeth Courtauld Surgery and towards a new community building on Butler Road.

Funding will also be provided for Primary School places within Halstead.

Commenting on the development and public drop-in session, Ed Lowe, Land Manager at David Wilson Homes said: “The principles of development including access to the site were set last year with the Outline Planning Permission which was granted by Braintree District Council. Our application include plans for the detailed delivery of the site including the appearance and layout of the houses, drainage and landscaping provision.

"We were extremely pleased with the conversations we had with those who attended the drop-in session. David Wilson Homes are committed to working with local residents and keeping them informed throughout the process.

"We look forward to continuing this dialogue with the local community in the coming months.”

The plans have been developed by David Wilson Homes, who are part of the Barratt Development Group, and have been building quality new homes since 1958.

They have won a 5-star housebuilder rating from the Home Builders Federation for eight years running – the only major national housebuilder to do so.

David Wilson Homes will now examine and review the feedback received at the exhibition and will feed the responses into the design development process.

A Reserved Matters Planning Application will be submitted to Braintree District Council next month.
