A FUNDRAISING nine-year-old is set to appear on the famous sofa with Lorraine Kelly this week.

Alfie McAnespie, will appear alongside the TV presenter on her show on Friday.

The Montgomery Junior School pupil, who lives in St Michael’s estate, Colchester, is climbing Ben Nevis later this month in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for military charity Help for Heroes.

He will be joined by Coronation Street star Anthony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in the soap, and former Royal Marine-turned athlete Andy Grant. Mr Cotton is set to appeal alongside Alfie on on the ITV show.

Alfie shot to fame when he became the youngest Help for Heroes fundraiser.

As a 16-month-old tot, he walked almost one mile unaided and raised £1,000 for the soldiers’ charity and was name-checked by Prince Harry and then Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Last year, he scaled Mount Snowdon to raise money for former Para John Prosser to get a specially adapted wheelchair after injuring himself in a series of hard landings.

Proud mum, Anja McAnespie, said: “We are all very excited for him.

“He has wanted to be on the show for a long time and he’s met with Lorraine before and she said she wanted to adopt him, which was quite nice.”

She added: “Anthony is coming on as well so hopefully it will raise the profile of what Alfie has done and is going to do.”
