THE whole community of Coggeshall came together for one of the most popular events in the town's calendar.

In blazing sunshine on Saturday, at Coggeshall Recreation Ground, residents of the town enjoy a mixture of games, music, food and drink, in aid of some very close to home charities.

Funds raised from the event were split between the Coggeshall Big Park Project and the Cancer Centre Campaign at Colchester General Hospital.

Sue Wilson, one of the organisers, said: “It was brilliant. It felt like the whole of Coggeshall had come out for it.

“We had lots of bouncy castles, games to play, food, music and everything people wanted. We even had a football competition."

More than £500 was raised for the Coggeshall Big Park Project from a bucket raffle on the day.

Mrs Wilson is part of a group of 12 who are aiming to raise £25,000 towards the Cancer Centre Campaign.

She said: “Last year we did the Queens Day event and we were asked to do something similar again.

“It may be different people who run it as it is a lot of work but we are planning to return next year.

“When you see everyone together like this it is worth all the hard work.”
