AN amateur dramatics group is bringing its latest play to Witham Public Hall.

Witham Dramatic Club will perform Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing on Thursday, June 22, Friday 23 and Saturday 24.

The story, written by one of the UK’s most important playwrights, follows writer Henry, who is madly in love with another man’s wife.

His wife is playing the lead in Henry’s latest play and he begins to notice how the story increasingly mirrors the course of his real life.

He soon realises that in reality, people are not as easy to manipulate than in his plays.

The award-winning play explores what is meant by the real thing in terms of love, life and relationships.

It is full of surprise, wit and tinges of sadness which originally premiered at London’s Strand Theatre way back in 1982.

The first production starred Roger Rees and Felicity Kendal.

Witham Dramatic Club’s version takes place at Witham Public Hall on Collingwood Road at 7.45pm nightly.

Tickets cost £12.

Reduced price tickets are available on the Thursday for seniors and children under 16.
