EXPERT surgeons have removed 98 per cent of the tumour attacking Breya Ward.

The two-year-old is fighting a rare and aggressive cancer, which had taken over her stomach.

But after complex eight-hour surgery, she could now be on the road to recovery.

The good news comes after a fund set up to pay for pioneering immunotherapy treatment in the USA - should she need it - has now topped £120,000.

Her parents, Holly Robinson, a 28-year-old freelance personal assistant, and Ollie Ward, a sergeant in the 2nd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment hope to raise £250,000.

The couple, who live off Berechurch Hall Road, in Colchester, said: “After eight hours and 30 minutes in theatre, Breya has finished her operation and it has been a huge success.

“The amazing surgeons removed 98 per cent of her tumour and not only that - she has kept both kidneys and also all of her liver and all of her bowels, which were all at question.”

The pair added: “Breya was faultless.

“The backing this amazing country and NHS offers us in a time of need is truly magnificent.”

Days after her operation, Breya was discharged from the intensive care ward and moved to step down unit.

The parents added: “We couldn’t be prouder of Breya.”

The money raised by family, friends and even strangers has topped more than £120,000.

It will only be used if Breya’s NHS treatment is not ultimately successful or if she subsequently relapses.

The couple added: “It would be wonderful to get discharged from this second stage on our journey and have reached the half way mark with our funding goal.

After everything she’s gone through the last few days, we pray money will never be a halt on her fighting this battle.

“In our hearts we believe she will not relapse.

“But to have the £250,000 saved away will truly relieve a stress in the back of our minds and will mean no matter what, Breya will always get the very best in available treatment.”
