HUNDREDS of cyclists of all ages saddled up for a popular event which has run for more than two decades.

The Tour de Tendring, now in its 24th year, attracted cyclist from across the district and further afield who had the choice of tackling three different distances.

All entrants started and finished at Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles, in Low Road, and put the pedal to the metal for either the six-mile event around Harwich, the 20-mile route which head as far as Great Oakley or the mammoth 60-mile ride which took the most ambitious entrants all the way to Clacton.

After finishing their ride, participants and their families could enjoy a fun day back at Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles which featured inflatable attractions for youngsters, trampolining and a performance from popular dance group Boogie Shoes and other popular acts.

Fortunately, the morning’s wet weather gave way to bright sunshine so hundreds could enjoy the activities on offer.

As well as being great exercise, entrants also raised thousands of pounds for their favourite charities.

The annual ride is organised by Tendring Council and Bike Events.
