A TEAM of disabled veterans, including a man from Braintree, has completed the second race of the season.
Warren McKinlay is a driver for team BRIT, a motor racing team of disabled ex-troops.
Mr McKinlay, 34, of Notley Road, damaged his pelvis and suffered brain injuries in 2005, when his motorbike collided into a tree at 60mph.
He joined the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers in November 1999 and had the accident whilst at work.
He found a new lease of life in karting and hopes to make it to Le Mans in 2020.
The team is taking part in The Fun Cup championships and Car 312 was driven by veterans James Hill, Warren McKinlay and guest driver Tav Kirk.
Mr McKinlay said: “The team dropped a few places during Tav’s first session on track.
"When I got into the car we were in 25th place.
"I gave it my all and made my way up the grid to get us to 18th, I’m really happy with that.”
Team 312 finished in 15th place.
Team BRIT is due to compete in the next round of the Fun Cup championship on the June 3 at Brands Hatch.
