A COUPLE has raised more than £6,000 for the charity that supported them and their baby.

Victoria and Ashley Jones were advised to terminate her pregnancy last summer, after it was discovered their first baby George's bowel, liver and stomach were growing outside his body.

The couple from Conies Road in Halstead said goodbye to their baby on February 7- he died at five months old following health complications.

On April 29 Ashley tackled a 66-mile walk around the Isle of Wight to raise money for the Sick Children's Trust.

The charity let the family stay at Chestnut House when he was undergoing treatment at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Ashley said the walk was tough but he was pleased with all the support.

Victoria said: "We let a balloon off for George just before the 66 miles.

"He guided the way and went off into the walkers' direction.

"So far we have raised £6,259 and we had t-shirts made too.

"We feel the fundraising is going really well."

The couple has a target of £25,000 and they are holding a fundraiser at the Fox and Goose pub in Chelmsford on May 13.

It will start from 6.30pm onwards and there will be a raffle, auction and disco.
