A NEW High Street store has been located as a home for a charity shop.

St Helena Hospice closed one of its stores in Halstead High Street in March.

After opening a book store in The Centre in Halstead, the hospice was looking to find another shop to sell general items.

The hospice had looked and rejected one building, now occupied by Friends Chinese restaurant.

It has been confirmed the hospice has found another space in the High Street, although an opening date and an exact location has not been revealed.

Sarah Green, director of income and communications, said the new book shop which opened in March has done particularly well.

She said: “Our new shop at The Centre specialises in books and media and we hope the Halstead community enjoys the variety on offer.

“It’s a treasure trove of fantastic books, vinyl, CDs, DVDs, crafts, toys and puzzles, all kindly donated by our hospice supporters.

“We have located a second space on the High Street for a shop selling gen- eral items such as clothes and bric a brac which will open in due course.

“Through our shops and online selling, we receive a valuable income which helps us to keep our hospice services running.

“We could not do this without the wonderful support of our local com- munity donating their pre-owned goods for sale and also purchasing from us.”

The Halstead books and media shop is open from 9am- 5pm and is closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
