A PRIMARY school is celebrating maintaining a good standard for six years.

St John the Baptist Primary School Pebmarsh was inspected by Ofsted last month.

In a report published this week, it said the school in The Street was continuing to do well since the inspection in 2011.

The inspector said: "I was impressed by the high-quality work on display in the corridor, the school hall and in every classroom.

"It is a vibrant, colourful place with a welcoming community atmosphere.

"Current pupils are very proud of their achievements, and showed me where their best pieces of work are displayed.

"They talked about how they had been challenged to achieve better quality written work.

"Consequently, the school environment is a true representation of its pupils."

She said parents value how the school consults everyone before making a change and said there was a highly visible leader.

Headteacher Karen De Pietro started at the school in September 2015.

She said: "The team at Pebmarsh are delighted to have received such a good report and have all the hard work recognised.

"We know all the children as individuals and are very proud of all they have achieved."

The inspector said the school must now raise further standards in maths and grammar and continue to work with the council to support pupils with special needs.
