A POPULAR dramatic society are set to host open auditions for their summer production.
Sudbury Dramatic Society are turning a classic comedy for their September production in the form of The Rivals by Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
Sheridan’s play is set in 1775 and follows the romantic difficulties of Lydia who is determined to marry for love, which lead to a wealth of mistaken identities and misunderstandings from some larger than life characters, including the infamous Mrs Malaprop, whose ability to mangle the English language is legendary.
The Rivals is directed by Denis Brogan, long time SDS member who has directed many successful productions and has frequently appeared on stage himself.
Denis is looking for a cast of 4 women and up to 8 men
Open Auditions for The Rivals are being held at the Quay Theatre on May 8 at 7.30pm.
Anyone interested is welcome to come along to audition but on being cast will need to join Sudbury Dramatic Society.
Scripts are available now from the Quay Box Office for short term loan or can be found online at Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/24761).
