IN last week’s Gazette, (Embarrassing play area shortage slated by dad), a Castle Hedingham resident said Gosfield had thousands of pounds thrown at the children’s play area.
May I put the gentleman right.
Some 70 years ago, after years of fundraising, the Parish Council bought their playing field and installed a small play area.
Over the last 16 years the old equipment has slowly been replaced with modern equipment.
The funding for this has not come from parish council funds, but from money raised by several parish councillors and residents.
There are many sources of grants available for this kind of thing also local fundraising i.e. village Fete, quiz nights.
Gosfield has a prize-winning play area thanks to its fundraising by residents, not parish council funding.
