ROLES were reversed at one Halstead school last week as pupils stepped to the front of the class to teach.

Members of Richard de Clare's Learning Council took over classes from foundation stage to year four, teaching a range of lessons that they planned with the class teachers.

The learning council usually meet to discuss school going ons, leading pupil led feedback to developments at the school.

But this time were given the opportunity to step into their teachers shoes as part of the schools 'Take Over Day'.

Sam Couttie, deputy headteacher at Richard de Clare, said: "This was a great opportunity for them to gain an insight into the teaching process and what makes a great lesson.

"The children delivered PE lessons, Maths lessons, English lessons, History lessons, Art lessons and PSE lessons.

"The children gained a lot from the experience and feedback from the teachers and children has been extremely positive."
