HEDINGHAM Castle scooped two top accolades at a heritage awards ceremony.
The castle was named the Best Wedding Venue as well as being awarded the Best Loos at the Hudson’s Heritage Awards.
Hudson’s Heritage Awards aim to celebrate the high quality of experiences enjoyed by visitors to a wide range of heritage attractions.
Castle owners, the Lindsay family, were praised for the way they have managed to add a number of historically exciting options to a historically significant and sensitive building.
Judges viewed Hedingham Castle as providing brides with something truly unique, a wedding in an authentic Norman castle.
The castle also has the best loos out of heritage sites across the country.
Placing modern facilities alongside their medieval equivalent and hiding modern basins in barrels created a loo with a sense of humour as well as practicality.
Judges stated: “The Lindsay family are to be congratulated on their inventiveness in working with Historic England to achieve the necessaries of 21st century life.”
