AN animal charity is cheesed off after finding three bunnies abandoned and wandering the countryside.

Stilton, Babybel and Edam, as they have affectionately been named, were found in Cheese Lane, Cheshunt, on Monday before being brought to the RSPCA Danaher Animal Home in Wethersfield.

The trio will now spend seven days at the home before they go up for rehoming.

Lucy Fackerell, RSPCA animal collection officer, said: "The rabbits could easily have been toast if left out in the cold, wet weather for too long.

“The trio were fairly cheesed off and aren’t in great condition, but now their future looks brie-t.

“The rabbits weren’t microchipped so we’d like to hear from anyone who might recognise them or know where they’ve come from.

“Anyone with information which may help us establish what has happened to these bunnies can get in touch by calling our inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”

Every year the RSPCA is called out to rescue hundreds of abandoned animals, many of whom are left for dead by their owners - in 2015 they collected 512 abandoned rabbits.
