A SIBLE Hedingham community nature reserve is launching two new groups to bring people to the open space.

Molly’s Wood is a ten acre site off Hulls Mill Lane which is being managed for wildlife and the fruits of an orchard.

The nature reserve was a project by the late Dr Ronnie Green, who was influential in the formation of the woodland area and community orchard.

The site is run by volunteers from the Friends of Molly’s Wood, and two new events have been launched in an attempt to boost the amount of people using the area.

They are a weekly outdoor group for children under five, and Fire Choir – an outdoor singing group which meets monthly to sing around a fire.

Elizabeth Swift, who is working with the community to make the most of Molly’s Wood, said: “It has so much to offer that we are still really looking into it and working out how we can use it.

“The more we get to know the site, the more we can do with it, and really that is where we are at the moment.

“The outdoor group allows children to explore nature from an early age. It is a bit like an outdoor toddler group, whatever the weather the children and the parents come down and enjoy the outdoors and enjoy Molly’s Wood.

“We have had really positive feedback so far, kids are much calmer and more content. Studies show this works to.”

The Fire Choir was launched following success from a similar event in Colchester.

Elizabeth added: “I enjoy singing but there is something extra special about singing outside.

“Sitting around the fire, under the stars, among nature, is amazing, and has such a special vibe.”
