CAMPAIGNERS are ready to "take things up a gear" in a stand against 'predator' developers.
A protest group called the Yeldham Action Team was set up after Gladman submitted land behind Butlers Way in Great Yeldham for development.
The development would be for up to 60 homes, and the submission will be discussed by Braintree Council for inclusion in the Local Plan.
Greg Coogan, a resident whose home the houses would overshadow, started a campaign to get the site booted out.
He said: "In excess of 120 objections have been lodged with Braintree Council for their consideration, so it is now up to the planning committee to decide, and we await that outcome.
"So far 285 members have joined the group and from that number nearly half have objected.
"We also have support from various anti-Gladman groups around the country too.
"We are very pleased, and are ready to up a gear if and when required."

Braintree Council will review the latest draft of the Local Plan in November.
Gladman was contacted but did not wish to comment.
