HAVING arrived at the scene of the accident a few minutes after the accident in Colchester Road, near Halstead Cemetery, my heart leapt to see the poor young lady being comforted.

I am in full support of traffic calming, and also a 20 mph limit in our ever busy town.

Essex County Council’s Councillor Joe Pike I know was in favour of this rule.

The increased traffic, congested by the increased parking, needs to be re-considered with urgency.

The children taking the short cut through Halstead Cemetery need reminding also of the busy main road.

I am not blaming this poor young lady or the motorist of this accident.

Both pedestrian & motorist can be at fault at different times, speeding motorists are partly to blame.

As a motorist I have often seen school children in groups wandering across the middle of Colchester road, dodging the traffic.

The lollipop lady is only a few yards away, the support for this crossing could be improved.

I struggle regularly to exit Nether Court due to speeding motorist.

The junction of Mallows Field, Pretoria Road & Colchester Road, is a death trap, with motorists pulling into the keep clear area of Colchester Road.

Traffic leaving the Woodman Coop has added to congestion. In plain English, you need eyes up your back side.

In support of Joe Pike and his claim for 20 miles per hour limit, it needs something done to calm certain drivers at peak times, and pedestrians.

I have had impatient motorist behind me when I choose to travel at 20-25 mph pushing their nose out to overtake.

As a pedestrian I always use the crossing at busy times especially.

I hope the young lady is well.

Lessons to pedestrian and motorist alike are needed here, I believe.
