CHILDREN and their parents enjoyed an afternoon at the park as the first installation of play equipment was introduced.

Ridgewell Parish Council got grants for the new play equipment, with slides, swings and a climbing frame.

A spokesman for the parish council said: "Big kids and little kids enjoyed our fantastic park after the first stage of installation.

"It was lovely to hear the squeals of excitement and the laughter coming from the children.

"It will be even more super once the toddlers' pirate ship is open in a couple of weeks- what a fantastic facility."

The council wanted to thank the manufacturer, Lars Laj, and the grants contributors including Braintree Council, Essex County Council, the Tom Amos Charity and Essex Fairways Trust.
