HEDINGHAM Castle welcomed back the Knights of Destrier for a Jousting Tournament.

The knights, who joust in suits of full metal armour, some costing over £25,000, try to win every battle they take part in.

At the Castle on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, they spent the morning demonstrating their skill at arms in the Hunting Games.

In the afternoon they put on and explained every aspect of their armour before mounting up and giving battle in front of 2,500 visitors.

There were activities all through the day, with shows from the Jester, Jonathan de Hadleigh and his wife Judy, falconry displays from Coda, authentic medieval music played by Blondel, the Norfolk Longbow Men letting people try their skill at archery.

As well as a Maypole where the children were shown the traditional dance, coconut shies and donkey rides.

There were also craft and food stalls, real ale, tours of the castle and re-enactors.
