ABOUT 150 classic cars were showcased at Castle Hedingham over the weekend.

The event, organised by Amanda Beecroft, saw 500 members of the public look on in awe at the motors.

Simon Orr, general manager at the castle, said: "It was a great success and brilliantly organised.

"We’ve held the event for over ten years, and aim for a relaxed atmosphere with classic cars of all types and descriptions.

"This year we had an armoured car as well as a number of second world war period Jeeps, an AC Cobra which a lot of enthusiasts got excited about, battered VW campers, Rolls Royces and some half-timbered Morris Minors.

"New this year, we were excited to welcome Motion Picture Motors, who brought some of the original cars from the classic film Bullitt, one of them containing Steve McQueen."

The rain on Sunday deterred some of the car owners, however Mr Orr said everybody had a great time nonetheless.

The event was held on August 20 and 21.
