THROUGH your paper can anything be done about this ongoing problem?

I am always reading about other people and their footpaths.

I ring the Essex County Council highways department every year about ours and until this year someone comes and clears it.

I rang a month ago and also e-mailed, with no luck.

We need these footpaths cleared and swept on a regular basis.

Our footpath goes through a small Spinney and is dark and gloomy this time of the year.

Why can’t we have the same attention as the High Street?

It’s funny how a person can come and mow the grass verges and then get off the machine to strim along the entrance to Ashlong Grove, because its judging time for the flowers.

One other thing, along Hedingham Road is an overgrown privet hedge.

People have asked the council about that and the reply is we don’t know who owns it.

Like the letter in your paper last week, wait for an accident and then find out.

One doesn’t dare step off the path.

Hedingham Road, Halstead.
