STUDENTS at a Halstead school raised £1763 for a local trust during the schools charity week.

Children at The Ramsey Academy chose to support The Smile of Arran for the second year running and exceeded last year's total.

During the charity week, students and staff joined in a Lip-Sync Battle, a Y-Ball contest, baked and sold cakes, added their finger prints to a Smile of Arran Tree canvas and walked or even ran miles at lunchtime in a Sponsored Walk.

Alison Tosh said “I am overwhelmed by the support and caring nature of the Ramsey students who had all given so generously of their time and money to raise money for such an important cause.

"I am so pleased that Arran has become their inspiration.”

The cheque was presented by Mr Rob James, Head Teacher, Mrs Sims, Aspiration Raising Standards Leader and Lauren-Mae Cooke to Mrs Tosh on Tuesday.

The Smile of Arran Trust was set up in memory of Arran Tosh who sadly died as a result of a brain tumour at 13 years old.
