A COLNE View care home and day centre celebrated its fourth anniversary with a Rio 2016 Olympic themed party.

Care UK's centre on Dame Mary Walk opened its doors to the people of Halstead for a family friendly event.

The event featured fun sports day activities including an egg and spoon race with people of all ages getting into the spirit.

Omar Taylor, home manager at Colne View, said: “Our fourth anniversary was a really exciting milestone. It is great that it coincided with Care Home Open Day and we had the opportunity to celebrate with so many people from the local community.

“Our home is always open to guests, but it was wonderful to have a day to bring together visitors, residents and colleagues and show all the good work we do. It was pleasure to meet everyone and to give visitors the opportunity to take a look around Colne View.

"We all had a wonderful day and hopefully we have demonstrated how modern care homes are warm and inviting, while also strengthening our links with the local community here in Halstead.”

Residents and visitors also enjoyed a movement to music session hosted by the Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy and one of the highlights of the day was a rousing performance from the Colne View residents’ choir.

The celebrations at Colne View coincided with Care Home Open Day – an annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
